Oklahoma where the wind comes sweeping down the plain...

This past weekend Reena and I traveled down to Oklahoma. Why, you might ask, would we go there? Well, because it was one of the six states that I had not yet been too (South Carolina, North Dakota, Arkansas, Oregon and Louisiana being the others I have yet to see).
While we were in Oklahoma we saw the Husker football team get stomped by Oklahoma, but the trip was still a lot of fun. I was impressed by Oklahoma's campus, they had brick buildings that were similar to Michigan Law School in design, but with a Spanish flare...this may not sound that impressive, but it was a very nice campus, for those applying to colleges (don't know if that applies to many of my fans) it wouldn't hurt to look into the Sooner School.
I was also a fan of the city because it was a typical college town, the local restaurants have Oklahoma paraphernalia all over the walls and everything revolves around the University.
Also in Oklahoma we saw the Incredibles. Reena and I both thought it was really good. Pixar and Disney have done it again! If you haven't seen it yet, I suggest you do so! Oh, and before the movie we saw the Star Wars Episode III trailer!!! I am super excited for this movie. Episode I was pretty lame, but Episode II was pretty entertaining and this one looks to be the best by far!! I can't wait until the summer.

Trip to Boston

This past weekend was one of the best weekends I've had all summer. I got to Boston Thursday evening. My flights were surprisingly on time. I was starving when I arrived so Matt and I ate at a food court near where he had parked. The next day we decided to do some sightseeing. We took the train in from Southboro (where Matt's Uncle Mike and Aunt Susan live and where Matt is staying for the summer) into Boston. The train was actually pretty nice since I was expecting some rundown subway similar to NY subways, but the seats were all cushioned and weren't facing each other. We walked up along the harbor, which was a nice change. Being near the ocean always seems so relaxing. We ate at the Quincy Market, which was seriously my favorite part of the day. This open market has every type of food you can imagine, from Thai to Indian, to Greek, to Italian. I couldn't decide what to get so I settled on some Japanese food, which is fire grilled right in front of you. Apparently this place is packed throughout the day, every day. Afterwards we went through Boston Common, which is like the Central Park of Boston. There were statues of revolutionary heroes and such. We rode on the Swan Boats. They are boats in the shape of swans that run through the main pond through Boston Common. It's a very touristy attraction. Finally, we ate at cheesecake factory for dinner. The portions are huge and the food is amazing. We were so stuffed we couldn't eat any cheesecake!

The next day we drove to Kennebunk, Maine where Matt's uncle's family has a condo. It's funny how I think Maine is so far away, but it took less than two hours to get there. I've never been to the area so Mike drove Matt and I around and gave us the "official tour." (Since I like cars, I must say that Mike's Saab was really cool.) The quaint town revolves around the ocean where people fish, sail, and eat seafood all the time. George Bush Sr. owns a huge house in Kennebunkport, a town right next to Kennebunk, so we got to see that along with some beaches, local restaurants, and the downtown shops. Matt and I went to a place called "Hurricane's" for dinner. It was right on the water so that was really nice. I ate halibut and creme brulee for the first time and really like both.

We only stayed in Maine for one night and then on Sunday I had to head back to the Boston airport. The weekend went by so fast, so I guess time does fly when you're having fun.

I made a little collage of pictures from my trip to Boston and Maine. I like the software that came with the Canon scanner I recently bought. Now I can do cool things to the photos like this!

All of the pictures have an added "fuzziness" effect. I thought it looked cool. The bottom left picture is Matt and his Uncle Mike on the beach. The upper left picture is Matt and I on the swan boats in Boston Common. We had to ride the train to and from Southboro so at the top is Matt getting on the train. The upper right picture is in Maine. I thought it was funny how there were a ton of signs on the sign post. I don't know how anyone can find the right sign as they are zooming by. To get an idea of the size of the sign post, I'm the little person standing to the left of it. The bottom right picture is also in Boston Common where Matt and I are trying to replicate the frogs. I don't know if we really succeeded! The bottom picture is me at a Maine beach, and the middle non-fuzzy picture is Matt and I on a neighboring beach the next morning.
