Reena and I just got back from our New York trip. We went to see Diana sing at her senior recital and, as expected, she performed exceedingly well.
New York was very cold, since it was February, but we braved the weather and walked around a bit. But the best part of New York had to be the food!!! On our first night Uncle R.K. took us out to eat. We had no idea where he was going to take us, but he ended up taking us to the best place! We went to Morimoto, which is the restaurant owned by Japanese chef Morimoto of Iron Chef Fame. The Iron chef did not disappoint. The appetizers were the best part of the meal. We had shrimp tempura and steamed scallops. The shrimp tempura was crispy and came in two flavors, one which was spicy and the other had a tangy flare...together it was sweet and spicy and was probably the best shrimp I've ever had. I don't particularly care for scallops, i think they have a weird texture and are not that tasty, but these were no ordinary scallop. These scallops were cooked with scallions in a spicy chinese sauce and were quite possibly the world's finest scallops! Morimoto lived up to his billing as an Iron Chef and his cuisine reigns supreme in New York!
